Medical University of Varna Admission & Entry Requirements

To score a spot in the medical university of Varna, you’ll have to pass the entrance exams successfully. You must have good grades in Biology and Chemistry in high school.

The entry test is based on High School knowledge of Biology and Chemistry (for EU applicants only). Non-native English speakers will have to sit an English test too.
This year, the entrance exam will be online. The entry test will consist of 5 sections:
Multiple-choice questions – your standard MCQ with 4 available answers, 1 of which is correct
Gap-filling questions – filling in the appropriate missing words in a text
Matching questions – 2 columns where you have to match each item from column 1 to column 2
True/false – standard true/false statements
Definitions – where you explain what certain chemical and biological terms mean

Medical University of Varna Tuition Fees

Here you can study medicine in a 6-year course, dentistry in a 6-year course, and a 5-year pharmacy course, all of which are taught in English.

The annual tuition fees for Medicine and Dental Medicine in English are € 8000 per year. The tuition fee for Pharmacy in English is €6000 per year.

Course structure

Medicine


The 6-year medicine programme in Bulgaria is taught entirely in English and spans 10 semesters of academic training. The first 2 years of the curriculum are devoted to pre-clinical study, while the final 3 years are devoted mostly to clinical training and research.

Before graduating, the final year of the programme is an internship year consisting of clinical rotations. Students are then expected to sit a state licencing exam Additionally, students will be required to complete practical summer internships in years 2-4.

When students complete the academic programme and final year internship requirements, in addition to passing state tests, they get the professional title of Doctor of Medicine (MD) and a globally recognised Master's degree.

Dentistry

Like the medical course, theoretical instruction is provided through lectures, seminars, practical exercises, and individual work for all compulsory, elective, and facultative subjects.

Practical training is provided through practical exercises throughout the semester, training practises, and pre-graduate traineeship. Students gain adequate knowledge of medical science, proper comprehension of scientific methods, structure, physiology, and behaviour of healthy and sick individuals, as well as the influence of social factors on dental health.

As a result of the fundamental training, the aspiring dentist will acquire the abilities necessary to execute all tasks involving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of abnormalities and illnesses of the teeth, mouth, jaws, and associated tissues.

About the Medical University of Lublin

The Medical University of Lublin is a public higher education institution established in 1944. Situated in the beautiful city of Lublin, this university attracts hundreds of students looking to study medicine in Europe each year.

Lublin is the cultural and industrial centre of Southeastern Poland, with a population of over 350,000 citizens. More than 100,000 inhabitants are students who study in the 4 Polish universities here. It is well-known as a student city, with around 30% of the population consisting of students.

The university is in cooperation with 4 clinical teaching hospitals that provide students with a field to practice on-side and learn from real-life situations. Also, the university has a library where you can find every medical book you will ever need. 

Currently, the university offers only dentistry and medicine courses in English. The programmes include lectures and practice in hospitals, laboratories, and simulators. Also, the university offers a foundation year for the students who don’t feel prepared enough to start one of the medical courses. This premedical course is meant to enhance your knowledge of basic science subjects like biology and chemistry.

Extracurricular and Leisure Activities

The Medical University of Lublin has 11 student organisations on campus that may interest you. Some are academically focused, such as the Students of Dentistry Society and the Lublin Medical Analytics Students’ Association. Others are talents and interests focused, such as the University Choir, University Folk Dance and Song Ensemble, and the University Sports Association.

Speaking of sports, the Medical University of Lublin has a huge Sport & Entertainment Hall with indoor and outdoor facilities. Aspiring doctors can participate in various sports such as tennis, football, futsal, and basketball. In addition, the building serves as a venue for various entertainment events.

Medical University of Lublin Admission & Entry Requirements

For the applicants who studied in countries that are part of the EU, OECD, or EFTA, and candidates owning International or European Baccalaureate, the entrance exam is not obligatory. They are allowed to apply only with the grades from their high-school diplomas.

Applicants who studied in countries outside of the EU, OECD, or EFTA and are not owners of International or European Baccalaureate must sit an exam to apply for MUL. The exam consists of 100 MCQ questions from Biology and two electives in the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics.

Accommodation

The Medical University of Lublin offers students accommodation in 3 dormitory buildings near the medical school. All of the students are lodged in Dormitory №1 until it’s full. In case the first dormitory has no vacant rooms, the students are lodged in dormitories №2 and №3. The offered rooms are single and double with good and higher standards.

The price for a single room is €130 and €100 per person for a double room. Every two rooms share a common bathroom and kitchenette. Every floor is equipped with a kitchen and drying rooms. On the entry-level, you can find a TV room, auditorium, and study rooms.

If you are not a fan of living and sharing spaces with other people, you can rent your own flat. The monthly rent is in the range of between €320 and €420 based on how far from the city centre you are. The utilities and living expenses per month will be around €500.

Life as a Medical Student in Lublin, Poland

Lublin is the largest city in Eastern Poland, and it is popularly known as the Polish Capital of Festivals. Not only does the town organise the most festivals in the country, but the number of events continues to grow each year. The most significant performances include a circus carnival, Highline walking, Night of Culture, the Jagiellonian Fair, and St Nicolas Day of Folk Music.

In addition, the city has exciting cultural life with its many theatres, galleries, museums, and cinemas. Since Lublin is part of Lesser Poland, the local architecture creates a distinct experience comparable only to Krakow. The Old Town is a perfect example of this with its Castle, Cathedral, and churches.

Furthermore, the city has many parks and a botanical garden to explore. It’s where aspiring doctors can take a breather from studying or reconnect with nature. Also, there are several national parks in the vicinity of Lublin. Polesie Landscape Park, for example, is a wetlands forest with many trails. Kozlowiecky Landscape Park is another protected area with woodlands, meadows, and marshes. Both are perfect for a weekend getaway.
