Ilia State University was founded in 2006 and is a public higher education institution. It is located in Tbilisi and is one of the largest Georgian Universities. Nowadays, the school has 4 faculties, one of which is devoted to the medical and natural sciences. Providing a high level of education is not enough for this university, that’s why it constantly takes part and invests in research in the medical field.
The Faculty of Medicine here offers an English-taught medical programme with a duration of 6 years. Its main goal is to prepare students with the eligible competency and qualifications needed to become successful medical doctors. The first 2 academic years provide pre-clinical medical knowledge, mostly in theoretical subjects.
Soon after students are prepared enough with theoretical knowledge, they start practising in simulators. But a doctor must be trained in real-life situations as well - that’s why bedside teaching is also included in the curriculum.

Ilia State University doesn’t offer graduate entry course but student transfers are welcome.

The tuition fee per year for the medicine course in English is €4,400.
The competition for entry into this university is based on candidates’ previous academic history. To apply here, you also need to pass an entrance exam in chemistry and biology. Mandatory are English language proficiency and a high school diploma with satisfactory grades.
