Varna Medical University is a state medical university. It is accredited by the National Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation at the Council of Ministers in the execution of the Law on Higher Education in the Republic of Bulgaria.

All degrees from the Medical University of Varna are recognised and accredited by the General Medical Council and the Australian Medical Council. This means you can continue your career in Medicine or Dentistry anywhere in the European Union, the European Economic Area, Australia, and beyond.

Medical University of Varna Admission & Entry Requirements

To score a spot in the medical university of Varna, you’ll have to pass the entrance exams successfully. You must have good grades in Biology and Chemistry in high school.

The entry test is based on High School knowledge of Biology and Chemistry (for EU applicants only). Non-native English speakers will have to sit an English test too.
This year, the entrance exam will be online. The entry test will consist of 5 sections:
Multiple-choice questions – your standard MCQ with 4 available answers, 1 of which is correct
Gap-filling questions – filling in the appropriate missing words in a text
Matching questions – 2 columns where you have to match each item from column 1 to column 2
True/false – standard true/false statements
Definitions – where you explain what certain chemical and biological terms mean

Medical University of Varna Tuition Fees

Here you can study medicine in a 6-year course, dentistry in a 6-year course, and a 5-year pharmacy course, all of which are taught in English.

The annual tuition fees for Medicine and Dental Medicine in English are € 8000 per year. The tuition fee for Pharmacy in English is €6000 per year.

Course structure

Medicine


The 6-year medicine programme in Bulgaria is taught entirely in English and spans 10 semesters of academic training. The first 2 years of the curriculum are devoted to pre-clinical study, while the final 3 years are devoted mostly to clinical training and research.

Before graduating, the final year of the programme is an internship year consisting of clinical rotations. Students are then expected to sit a state licencing exam Additionally, students will be required to complete practical summer internships in years 2-4.

When students complete the academic programme and final year internship requirements, in addition to passing state tests, they get the professional title of Doctor of Medicine (MD) and a globally recognised Master's degree.

Dentistry

Like the medical course, theoretical instruction is provided through lectures, seminars, practical exercises, and individual work for all compulsory, elective, and facultative subjects.

Practical training is provided through practical exercises throughout the semester, training practises, and pre-graduate traineeship. Students gain adequate knowledge of medical science, proper comprehension of scientific methods, structure, physiology, and behaviour of healthy and sick individuals, as well as the influence of social factors on dental health.

As a result of the fundamental training, the aspiring dentist will acquire the abilities necessary to execute all tasks involving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of abnormalities and illnesses of the teeth, mouth, jaws, and associated tissues.


About Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové

Charles University is a public higher education institution established in 1348. It has 17 faculties located in 3 cities in the Czech Republic - the capital Prague, Hradec Králové and Pilsen. Many of these faculties offer medicine course in English, but only the one in Hradec Králové has a pharmacy programme in English.

The Faculty of Pharmacy is located in Hradec Králové and was established in 1969 by a government decree. The city has a long history which can be seen in its old towers and cathedrals. In the period between the two World Wars, the town became a centre of modern Czech architecture. At this time, the Faculty of Pharmacy is the only Czech medical school that teaches pharmacy in English.

The faculty offers a 5-year pharmacy course entirely taught in English. The programme aims to prepare students who can start practising right after graduation. The faculty has its own garden of medical plants, where you can learn how to take care of them and use them in practice.

During the course, you will learn about different medications and drugs. How they are created and the ways of interactions between different pills and food or alcohol, and different types of organisms.

The university doesn’t offer graduate entry and doesn’t accept student transfers. Also, there is no foundation year here. Medlink Students will provide you with materials for competitive scores at the entrance exams and a good start to your studies.

Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Tuition fees

The price for the pharmacy course in English is €6,800 per academic year.

Charles University Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Admission & Entry Requirements

To apply to this university, you must sit an entrance exam. For admission in 2021/2022, it will be organised in June 2021. The test will clarify your knowledge of Biology, Chemistry, Botany and English speaking level. It consists of 140 multiple-choice questions and points are not deducted for wrong answers. Since the entrance exam test evaluates your English proficiency, you won’t need further certificates.

Accommodation

The Faculty of Pharmacy offers a dormitory for its students very close to the campus. The building consists of double rooms that are fully furnished. The furniture includes beds, desks, chairs, pillows, blankets, and bed linen. 

Bathrooms are shared but separated for males and females. There are common kitchens situated on each floor. The price for a place in the dorm is €150 for a bed and using all the facilities around the building. By your will, you can pay an additional €120 for everyday meals - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. 

If you still prefer to live on your own, you can rent a one-bedroom flat at an average price of €450 based on the location. Other expenses like living costs, entertainment and utilities are around €480 per month.

Accreditation

After receiving your diploma from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Charles University, you will be allowed to start practising or continue your study here and anywhere around the globe.

Charles University and all of its faculties are listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools and are recognised by the World Health Organisation.

Term Dates

The academic year starts at the beginning of October and the first term ends in mid-January. There is a 10-day Christmas break and a 1-month examination period right after the end of the term. 

Summer classes start in the last week of February and end on the last day of May. The examination period is held during the whole of June.
