About Vita-Salute San Raffaele University

Vita-Salute San Raffaele University (UniSR) is a private higher educational institution established in 1996. It is divided into 3 departments, one of which is the medical faculty. The school is located in the fashion capital of Italy - Milan.

Milan is the second-largest city in the country, with a population of 1,4 million citizens. The city might be famous for fashion, but this is not the only thing attracting people and international students. Several European medical universities that teach in English are located here.

The first medical course was introduced in 1998. With many years of experience in the medical field, the university has reached perfection in educating future doctors. Nowadays, the university offers undergraduate and graduate medicine courses entirely taught in English.

The first years of this course are devoted to the theoretical part where you will study every human body element. In the middle of the course, you will start practising in simulators and attend clinical and hospital training.

UniSR doesn’t offer a preparatory course, but you can buy an online simulator for their actual exam test. It will show you how the examination is structured and show your performance at the end.

If you want to transfer from another university to this one, you should do it before year 6. Vita-Salute San Raffaele University doesn’t accept student transfers in the last year of education.

University’s library has provided you with more than 20,000 physical books and thousands of scientific e-publications and resources. Being a student at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University allows you free access to San Raffaele Hospital departments, one of the most renowned hospitals in Italy.

Vita-Salute San Raffaele University Admission & Entry Requirements

What is essential about admission here is that the entrance test is not the IMAT examination, unlike most Italian medical universities. It is a university’s version with different dates, registrations and modalities. The test consists of 60 questions in English, 36 of which are logical and problem-solving, and 24 from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. Candidates have 80 minutes to complete it.

This exam is the only means of selection, and the ranking is based only on the score from it. It doesn’t matter if you have bad grades on your high school diploma, they will not be calculated in your ranking score.

Accommodation

The Vita-Salute San Raffaele University has 2 student dormitory buildings - “Cascina Melghera” and “Cassinella”, with a total capacity of 174 bedrooms. The Cascina residence is right next to the university, while Cassinella is around 20 minutes away.

Both buildings offer single rooms with private bathrooms and furniture for your needs. There are also communal areas for leisure time and other needs like breakfast, study, conference and laundry rooms, gym and recreation room.

The rent for the student dorms is paid annually at once or in 3 instalments. It includes renting a room and using all the shared facilities, as well as utilities. The room does not have meals. A room in the Cascina Melghera will cost you €10,500 per year, and a Cassinella’s room will cost you €7,000.
